Just like I don't like it when certain people call me by my nickname compared to my close friends/relatives.

It's all about who's saying what. If a white person came up to me and called me "their *****", I would be like

Black people don't take offense when other black people use it because the origin of the word still applies to the user. If another black person used the n-word (the er one) to degrade me, I would laugh in their face
