And in both SD and MSKWYDITD (that abbreviation ) They'd been hovering near their peak for weeks leading up to it. So I guess they did have longevity, it's just it happened before their actual peak.

Yep, the same thing happened with Love You Like A Love Song a few years back. It spent so long towards its peak that its slow ascent already accounted for its longevity. I think if you look at it that way, the free-fall is a bit more forgiveable.
