I'm sure Mariah is avoiding it. She doesn't seem very responsive to her very obvious vocal decline.
I know, like I just want someone, preferably me talk to her about it, like just to have her acknowledge, not that she needs to by any means, I just find myself feeling really sad about it, as lame as it sounds, to know that she could vocally slay anyone out there, on any given day. Like when she had the Larry King interview and said she was tired of singing ballads, because of how boring it gets which is very true, but its also because of the vocal limitations, I feel like I'm getting too into this, I just really am interested in discussing her vocal condition, past and present.
There's no point in her putting herself through surgery now, she's had her career. She makes music now for fun, its not even a job to her anymore
Very true, but then you have singers like Patti LaBelle (69) who may not being everyones cup of tea, and she tends to do the absolute MOST, but has a voice that has aged incredibly well throughout several decades of challenging material.

Mariah is still The Supreme tho
But if Mariah still has fun and doesn't mind embarrassing herself regularly on stage, who are we to stop her?
I love how y'all care more about Mariah's vocal condition than she does
every since I found out she has nodules and what they were, I've been curious/intrigued as to how she's been able to sing for so long. And it seems like the nodules are only affecting her mid/upper chest register.

It baffles me still after years, I sing myself so I cannot get my head around how she still has vocal chords left at all tbh

Mariah is the ONLY one to do it WITH nodules. People still don't know she has them or that she's had them since before her career even began. As I said a page or two back, some people have difficulty talking with nodules and home girl SANG, became a bonafide legend, one of the GOAT, with them.

She was indeed Triumphant and Made It Through The Rain with her legendary nodules
I'm pretty sure she warms up sis, why wouldn't she? But I agree she should rehearse better she never seems to know where the next note is these days
but does she really?

Anyway, would you be here for a Mariah that could no longer whistle at all, but in turn had a stronger, greater belt/chest abilities?
Yeah belting and chest mean the same thing. Your chest voice is your base/natural voice. Like your speaking voice. Belting is an extension of that. Usually belting requires more projection and resonance from your voice.

The surgery is so risky though.

And the rapping on Prisoner is iconic.

She's needs to practice and rehearse more instead of winging it. That way she'll know what she needs to sing,or how.
It works for me tbh. Like if I play with my voice before I go on stage, I know if it's still raspy,or if i cant hit a certain note toady,So I'll know to avoid it or sing around it when i go out. God knows I want to be the laughing stalk of the church.
You a singer, good TheAqua sis?
Or a Mariah imitator?
