All this pushbacks and first singles are giving me Emancipation tea though. The album was supposed to be released in November 2004 and the first single was supposed to be Say Something. Then Mariah took some time with JD and came up with Shake It Off which was to replace Say Something as first single. And yet once again the album was delayed while they wrote We Belong Together and It's Like That, which turned out to be the first single

I'm not hoping for TEOM 2.0 but I am seriously hoping for a STRONG material, single choices, and promotion for the next era like TEOM had. ILT might have not been MASSIVE but it led us to WBT and SIO and then DFAU on the re-release. 1-2-3 PUNCH (4 if you count the re-release).
I want a hot uptempo for the first single, then a strong ballad (her post-WBT ballads have been weak), then another uptempo or a mid tempo, and the last single should be a ballad/mid tempo. I think if they attempt to do what they did with TEOM, with all the right choices, material, singles, and strategies, then this era would be good.
One can hope though.
