Radioactive Imagine Dragons Peak: 2 Weeks on chart: 29 2012: Lights - Ellie Goulding After hearing It's Time, I thought Imagine Dragons were just gonna be yet another (good) indie band, but then I heard this track and was like wtf this is insane. The dubstep and electronic sounds just blew me away. It made me listen to their whole album (which is the 4th best album of 2012 for me) and made me realise how diverse and amazing their sound is. I'm glad this song smashed like crazy after It's Time made quite a small impact.

Closer Tegan and Sara Peak: 16 Weeks on chart: 9 2012: Born to Die - Lana Del Rey Now you must be wondering, how this song is in the top 10 when it peaked at a mere #16? Well when I first heard it I thought uhm it's an okay song. Hence it charted low and left the charts quickly. Then I listened to the album and found it not bad, so I listened to the song more. Then Taylor performed it with them on her tour, which made me listen to it even more. And then Anna (nineteen) introduced me to more T&S music, which made me like their music even more and made me listen to this song even more. So this song got quite a lot of recurrent plays.

Now Paramore Peak: 1 Weeks on chart: 20 2012: Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen After so long, I was so so desperate for new Paramore music. So I gobbled this song up even though it's a really weird Paramore song. And the chorus is somewhat a little lacklustre as Hayley keeps repeating the same line over and over. But it's still a really good song, though it's one of my least favourite songs off the album. The video is the best of the whole era (so far), though the ending was a little anti-climatic and Hayley looked terrifying.

The Way (feat. Mac Miller) Ariana Grande Peak: 2 Weeks on chart: 17 2012: We Are Young (feat. Janelle Monae) - fun. I didn't know who this Ariana Grande was before this song, but when I saw it go #1 on iTunes, I decided to listen to it. And for some reason, I fell in love with this song immediately. It could be her great Mariah vocals, the throwback sound, the catchiness, that makes this song just so irresistible. Oh and I'm quite a sucker for high notes. The video though, the kiss though, was actually strangely hot yet disgusting. I don't know how in the world it was hot, but it was disgusting cos Mac Miller is disgusting.

Can't Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Peak: 1 Weeks on chart: 18 2012: Both of Us (feat. Taylor Swift) - B.o.B This song is just hypnotically catchy from the first second to the last. The way the beat just keeps driving and driving and the way Mack keeps spitting his lines so convincingly. And then the usage of pianos and trumpets are really interesting and cool.
