Would be perfect IMO
If they're good songs they're good singles as well
Sometimes an artist needs to forget about chart numbers and show vulnerable sides so people won't get tired so fast on that material because something different and refresh could come ahead
If she keeps releasing party songs that's all people will expect from her
The only remaining huge smashes are Dark Horse, Legendary Lovers, and Birthday.
International Smile, It Takes Two, and This Is How We Do could do really well.
The rest, especially Double Rainbow, would not do very well, in my opinion.
Now now Benji. Even with an explosive chorus, Uncle still flopped harder than a Magikarp. There's no way Double Rainbow which has a mellow chorus would smash even if she promo the hell outta it. I love the song though
Uncle'a chorus was too clunky and awkward, definitely not very singable () but I agree with Benjamin, DR is gonna smash. It has that perfectly sweet message and insanely catchy melody that everyone loves. It just gives the overall song a euphoric feeling. The GP will eat it up. Bookmark us.

^ But singles have to be commercially viable. Is Capitol going to take a risk on CYB or Spiritual?

Wide Awake, The One That Got Away, Roar, Teenage Dream, etc. are not party songs
Double Rainbow would be perfect especially since it's not as obvious single like Uncle that everyone expected to smash, she sould go for something risky like this or CYB. It's a beautiful song which highlights that Prism is more mature record and would be great single to finish the era. Not to mention the journalists from listening parties, who noted that it should be released.
I agree that it would be good for Katy to try some of her different/mature sounds, but after Unconditionally I doubt they will do that
I personally think if Choose your Battles had a little bit of Roar treatment production wise it would have been a great first single, because Roar is kind of TD ish to me.

I have to agree about Wide Awake and The One That Got Away (Roar and Teeange Dream played at every party I went), but they're few among a lot of tracks that could easily play on any party, it's cool, but not a huge achievement.
Even that vulnerable tracks don't go well on charts, she still has a good name on industry. I mean, they have to mix some releases and fill her history with tracks without that commercial appeal too.

Labels want succesful singles.
I can see Legendary Lovers or Double Rainbow slaying, but CYB and Spiritual would flop on Radio and i don't see them anywhere close to the Top 10 on iTunes.
I am actually kind of worried about WOA tho, people really didn't seem to want that song both with the Pepsi thing and its promo success after being performed.
