Roar Katy Perry Peak: 1 Weeks on chart: 16 2012: Wide Awake - Katy Perry Kicking off the top 20 is BraveRoar! Ok I'm sorry, but it's mandatory that a Roar/Brave joke has to be made right? Ok anyway when this came out, I was blown away. It stepped away from Katy's usual glossy dance-pop songs and instead goes for something more organic (though the song is still generic in a sense). The lyrics are cheesy, but the way each chorus comes in like a wrecking ball, it makes up for the empowerment the lyrics fail to bring.

Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran) Taylor Swift Peak: 3 Weeks on chart: 14 2012: National Anthem - Lana Del Rey Tons of people hate this song, especially many of The Lord's Disciples. Drag me or whatever, but this is one of the best songs from Red. It's just such a sweet song and the chorus is so catchy, and Ed really adds to the song as he harmonizes with Taylor. But the remix could go and die though.

Applause Lady Gaga Peak: 1 Weeks on chart: 15 (still charting) 2012: Call It What You Want - Foster the People I remember when I first heard the teaser I was like wtf, this is gonna be so horrible. Then when the song came out, I was still like wtf. The verses are uhm okay... Then the pre-chorus aka the teaser portions which are just the worst. But then chorus hits and I was like YES THIS IS AMAZING. Seriously that chorus saves the whole song. The verse lyrics are still wtf though. The video is good too, it's not convoluted and it's just pure fun (though I'm sure if you dig deep enough you can make a story out of it).

Royals Lorde Peak: 2 Weeks on chart: 14 2012: Where Have You Been - Rihanna Ahh Lorde. I don't really care about the lyrics to be honest, cos I wish I could live like a royal. But damn this song is so so catchy.

Clarity (feat. Foxes) Zedd Peak: 6 Weeks on chart: 16 2012: Blow Me (One Last Kiss) - P!nk I like the way this is like a sort of EDM ballad, cos Foxes' vocals are just soaring. And then the breakdown comes and it almost feels euphoric. It's cool.
