Australian GP is generally very favourable to anything 'rock'/'pub rock'. It's been that way since the 60s/70s. Similar to way the U.S. has a HUGE GP cross-section that listen to nothing but country, a lot of people in Australia see rock as the be all and end all of music, anything else is 'pissweak', etc.
P!nk is probably the 'rockiest' pop chick around and so she does very well here.
Australian's too have a thing about being live. Lip-syncing is rarely tolerated (see Circus Tour 2009) and so P!nk being the 'true performer' she is gets heaped with praise here.
It's slowly changing but there is also a serious amount of sexism thrown into it to. The vast majority of middle age men in this country are baffled at younger men today liking EDM, Alternative or (heaven forbid) pop.
As illustrated by this, they asked the Aussie cricket team '
Lady Gaga v
Led Zeppelin and were horrified when most said Gaga -

Where have all the hard men gone?
If you asked legendary Aussie fast bowlers like Lillee, McGrath, Thompson and Hughes if they preferred Lady Gaga or Led Zeppelin, chances are you'd be asked, "Lady who?"
But the modern Australian fast bowler is a different beast altogether, as is proved by the videos attached to this story.

It's all ********, but yeah, P!nk is basically seen as the 'least fake' pop girl so she is showered in praise. That's not to say the other girls don't do well (BTWBall had like 15+ dates here), but nothing like the 17 shows in the one city thing.
