Some of them builded their selfworth in feeling superior to everything else and belittling others while Katy is subtle and snatching stealthy. They see their arguments against Katy disappearing one by one. Frontloaded first week single sales lost to Roar, metacritic is more favorable to PRISM than TD,...

Their world view is crumbling, they fear having to surrender while singing the world turned upside down
(Like the British couldn't believe they were defeated by American peasants and surrendered while laughing at the Americans instead of taking the Americans serious.)
Their passionate love for their fave can also turn into passionate hate against their fave. Their unstable nature reduced the size of their fanbase in BTW era and might also reduce their numbers in this era.
Why can't they be happy with what they have, regardless how others are doing?
