Right? Before we actually heard it I was expecting top 20 on iTunes, moderate global reception, and fading into the background when "Venus" came along - and I was still nervous about "Venus"!

I did NOT expect a broken record for global iTunes #1's, two days at #1 in the US, and overwhelmingly positive reception.

If Venus slays and gets better reception I can totally imagine her retconning this entire ordeal like:

we are overwhelmed by the worldwide response + excitement for VENUS & are happy to announce it as 2nd Single!

Don't worry monsters! We are still scheduled to release #DO WHAT U WANT feat. R KELLY AND it will STILL be an URBAN/RHYTHMIC SINGLE

TEOG was brilliant but they should have held off with it. "Judas" had actually re-entered the Hot 100 and I think it had a shot at a second wind; its rush release and subsequent dropping were the two biggest mistakes of the era.

However, y'all will look back on this single one day as one of the key moments in ARTPOP's performance overall.

Idk I think Judas probably wouldve ended up pulling an applause and rebounded a bit and end up a moderate hit. However I think it was the better decision on Interscope's part. It wouldve wasted a lot more energy pushing a single people weren't taking to and who knows if it wouldve pulled off.

She does know better than them as proven with Jimmy picking "Applause" over **** like "Sexxx Dreams" and DWUW, but who says DWUW being the new second single was Interscope's choice?

Ke$ha's second single, "Blah Blah Blah," was only chosen as such because its download sales were massive; almost as large as her first #1 single, "Tik Tok," so we decided to trust the fans over our own, bad research for it. Turns out, our research was right; the single collapsed almost immediately at radio, and we rushed back into our original choice, "Your Love is My Drug," which just went to #1 today. What happened? Who knows, but "Blah Blah Blah" was probably only selling based on its title for some weird reason - those wacky kids!
