EHC nominated over The Last Time? what?
Also, Taylor's collab at the CMAs is a special rendition of 'Red'.
Quote:
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Taylor Swift has gathered an all-star band for her appearance on next month’s Country Music Association Awards.
Swift will be joined by Alison Krauss, Vince Gill, Sam Bush, bassist Edgar Meyer and percussionist Eric Darken for a special version of her hit song “Red.”
The 23-year-old singer is one of two top nominees with six nominations for the Nov. 6 awards. Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will co-host the ABC broadcast live from Nashville, Tenn.
No word on what Swift has planned for her group. In recent award show performances, she’s played the Mad Hatter and led the viewer on a backstage tour.
All five nominees for top honour entertainer of the year — Swift, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton and George Strait — will perform on the show this year.

It's possible that they're just assuming that since it's Her current single, right?
No other source is reporting "Red."

And it's the smart thing to do, EHC was a single, TLT doesn't stand a chance, at least until the 2015 Grammys

^ Is it really just down to singles? Honestly I don't really pay attention to the grammys but if it's not about the music then it's not as great as I thought.

both commercial success and musical quality are important to win the grammy
but the competition for pop duo/group performance this year is really intense, so a song without commercial success will have much less chance

Non-singles can be submitted to the Grammys, but proper singles are more likely to be nominated.
Besides, it's not like the Grammy voters choose based on quality. The album with Long Live, Last Kiss and Enchanted lose to Lady Antebellum? Kelly Clarkson triumph over Florence + The Machine?
The Grammys are weird. They aren't strictly about success, like the Billboard Awards. They aren't strictly about popularity (fan vote), like the AMAs (claim to be). They aren't strictly about quality... I can't think of any award show that is, tbh. I suppose the same is true of the ACMs and CMAs. It's like they try to account for success and quality.... But success could mean charts (Bruno Mars) or sales (Katy Perry singles) or simply relevance (Frank Ocean), and quality can't be measured without bias... Plus "indie cred" seems to help with the nominations.

Her popularity has grown considerably after "I Knew You Were Trouble.'s" single release. Plus, Red did debut at #3 on the albums chart.

Well, I do think it's "I'm still country" image control, but I agree with you that picking mainstream names would make more sense. It's not like Alison or Vince are getting radio airplay. Although, going for respected legends is kinda going above mainstream success. "I don't need country radio to approve of me, because country legends approve of me." Plus I think most viewers with half a brain knows that Krauss + Gill are a lot higher quality than most of the current names in country music, so it may be that they're going for a "I'm still quality" angle, rather than a strictly "I'm still country" approach.
At the same time, I find it interesting that She is staging a major performance with the most awarded woman in Grammy history during the Grammy voting period. It may not have occurred to Taylor's team, but it could actually help on that front.

Do you think they'll have Her do a TV performance of the song in order to promote the film?

Also she speaks just like them regarding Taylor. That Baron Lane comes across more rdy to at least listen to the collaboration.
The C-stans board is back to their old Taylor-hating ways; this latest has all the regular poisonpenners up in arms

Let me organize my thoughts and prepare a proper essay on my thoughts about her musical direction and the upcoming CMA performance.

IA. I def think it's partly to get some Country fans back on board. But I just find it ridic that purists wrote Her off as a gullible, completely manufactured, Pop star whose fans are kids who would have preferred a Miley twerk-off. Like.......
And I also think it's not as put-together-by-the-team like many would think since Vince performed at the Nashville Songwriter Hall event last week, same event She received that NSAI award. I'd like to assume they talked about it on that event or stuff. Though I don't think it would benefit Her much at the Grammys.

And no performance, max an MV. As always.

It doesn't surprise me Vince is supporting her, or Alison either. Tbh I really expected the to make an appearance at her Nashville concerts. Both have spoken well of her and Vince supported her musically more than once. He has spoken very highly of her. And its not well known but she is very well respected by several Americana and Bluegrass artists.
