point still stands. They had to get established at some point. And once they did they reached higher success on radio than other artists. A lot of JTs success as well on urban stations came from Jayz as well.

I don't feel it's to do with race, I feel it's talent. Eminem's huge but so are a lot of other black rappers like Jay-z and Kanye, Adele's huge but there are/were huge singers like Whitney, Etta James, Beyonce etc.

I don't think that's what Big Smoke was implying. It was more that people with huge pop talent are going to inevitably find success regardless of skin colour. So those you mentioned would probably be successful black or white.

funny who Elvis just pretty much mimmicked black artist at the time . In the past I think black artist actually had it easier and you mostly had to be talented to succeed. But now so much other factors come into play. And the industry just seems white. A black person cant succeed with pop unless they are Rihanna and they wont chart with urban, but a white person is almost more successful making black music.

the reason why Azealia isn't enjoying commercial success right now is her beef with a lot in the industry. Look at Nicki for example... Extremely hard worker. Azealia would just rather stay on twitter smack talking people.

but yet black artists are enjoying more radio success, bigger sales, and higher level of popularity this year. The Elvis argument is old and over used. Elvis gained success at the time through country music at first. Not the rock n roll stuff. He gained popularity regardless.
