I had high hopes for Lad Gag over the summer up until I heard the music. I gave her the benefit of the doubt after Aura and even Applause but after that Sh*tfest, . Everything was pure crap except for the Janet inspired song of course.
At this point, it is likely that ARTPOP won't have a higher first week sales or Metacritic score than MedicareDNA.

This is true, but Katy is still huge and if she chooses to do something attention-grabbing people WILL pay attention, unlike say Gaga who has become somewhat irrelevant to discuss. I think Katy is just going for a more straight-forward approach this era making it about the music rather than antics...while it might not get her as much press right now it will work in the long run.
