I'm a student so the $185 help. I think they should have some guidelines of what people can buy though. I get frustrated when I see parents on FS with grocery carts full of tv dinners, chips, sugary drinks & cereals, and other crap.

There should be more strict rules like restricting junk food, providing funding for family's with 4 children or less, taking away funds after being on the program for a certain year, etc etc.

I'm not even bothered by programs like these. They don't take away large amounts of funding from the u.s. gov what bothers me is the abuse and fraud. Also with long term economic growth we can reduce many people off these programs.

They're people out there who truly need public assistance. It just gets bad rep because some people abuse it and act like welfare is their career. When people think food stamps or just public assistance in general they of lazy people who don't want to work.

But you do have people out there who are on public assistance and they actually have job and work everyday.

Explain why West Virginia, one of the MOST REPUBLICAN voting states (One where ZERO counties voted for Obama in 2012) has such HIGH food stamp usage.

Some of these vehemently 'anti-welfare' activists use just as much 'handouts' and 'free stuff' as these supposed welfare queens they so LOVE ranting and raving about.Much of the general population uses welfare at one point in their life, whether one likes it or not.TBH, I suspect some undercover racial bias when people have such views.Food stamps do NOT need to be cut as they serve a purpose even though there's people that abuse them.

I'm neutral to food stamps. My grandparents, aunts, and my uncles use them, but they abuse them. I like how it's in place for people who need it, but I feel like more people take advantage of it and use it as an excuse not to work rather than to get them off their feet. I can understand why people are pro-foodstamps, but I can see why people are anti-foodstamps too.

It can be frustrating. I know so many people that abuse it and it's so easy. One of my friends gets like 50$ a month even though she makes like 14$ an hour and is full time. She only uses it for mixers for her vodka
Another person I know gets 40 some dollars and has a full time paying job(not sure how much she makes) but enough to afford her apartment, cable, netflix, going out 3x a week and other luxuries. In fact I think everyone I know that has it, uses it when they are drunk and go to walmart to get snacks and ****. That could just be because it's WI and we are drunk 90% of the time though.

In theory it's a great program for a helping hand to people who cannot afford a few items and get that little help, but the fact is people cheat the system and it's kind of hard to stop that from happening.

To piggyback off of your statement, a few of my friends in College abused food stamps. They'd basically use them in the same instances as your friends or they'd sell them for actual money. I'm impartial to the general idea of food stamps, now, just for me seeing that but having also seen people who actually need food stamps to survive (for lack of a better word).

I work and work hard for my stuff. I know a lot of ghetto people who get them and abuse them and sell them.

I really don't know how this works or who can get it but I wouldn't get them. I know some people really need them but

OT Not trying to be messy for the sake of it but come to think of it, If I am assuming things correctly, I did see the OP's fave's CD being sold at the same brand of grocery store he works at.Not naming the store because I'm just assuming.

Also, for some grocery stores, food stamps are a GOOD chunk of business.To simply rake them away is to basically CLOSE a few stores.Supermarkets have low profit margins due to shrinkage and to simply take away WIC/food stamps would make matters even worse.Just throwing that out there.
