Originally, she thought it was going to be a dark record. She went through a very emotional time with her marriage breaking down. However, during her break she let a lot of light into her life (like a prism!) and as a result, after coming back from her break earlier this year, she instead made a record that is intended to spread the light she's let in back out into the world. It will still have it's more personal moments, just like every Katy record, but it hasn't been "dark" for quite some time now. It's not from fear, she was just enlightened.
