Kelly Clarkson Is Taking The Wheel
Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson is teaming up with State Farm’s “Celebrate My Drive” program to help raise awareness of driver safety amongst teenagers. Teens across the US and Canada have opportunity to learn more about safe driving, win money for their schools and even win a free concert from the 31 year-old.
The American Idol-winner opened up to ET Canada, telling us: “It’s actually something that’s pretty close to my heart. I had a friend die of reckless driving in high school. [This initiative] It’s about celebrating the fact that, you know, kids getting their license is a fun time! It’s freedom on four wheels. I totally get that, but it’s also a huge responsibility that I think kids overlook.”
“[Canada doesn’t] have a “National Driver Teen Safety Week”…. like we have in America. So our big goal for ya’ll is to get that week; to celebrate awareness. Because… it’s the leading cause of teen deaths” says the singer. Adding “We’re going October 22,I believe to Parliament and [are] trying to get that passed!”
In the meantime, you can see Kelly tonight on the series premiere of Robin Williams’ The Crazy Ones. Joking to ET Canada: “You are going to see a whole different side [of me tonight]…. It's a very ****ty version of me!... I’m playing Kelly Clarkson in it, but it is NOT me at all! I just want to tell you that right now!”
