The VMAs truly did die during the mid 2000s. I thought they were gonna be out the door for good. By 2007 they had the smallest stage they had ever had and it was clearly not profitable. As terrible as GM was, it really did save the show.

90'S not 80's, it didn't deny Madonna. I said Britney revived it after the 90's..No one remembers Michael performance the only thing iconic he did in the 90's vma was proposing to Elvis's daughter...

Did you watch the 2007s VMAs? The show was about to fold harder than the BBMA did. The event had downgraded to a private party. While Britney is clearly not the only important VMA figure (especially seeing as how the show flourished three years after she was born), she's definitely had the biggest impact on the show since Madonna.

That makes no sense. Britney's breakdown is only prominent BECAUSE of her glory days. They both go hand in hand. Without her glory days, the breakdown wouldn't be public fascination, nor would the resulting comeback. It's all one big story.
