Does anyone else think that if Kesha changes her image and music, and releases the music she actually wants, she could become a dark horse like Miley or Katy?

I see what you did there.
As for the question... I don't know. It's really hard to comment on Ke$ha at the moment because the type of music that she's releasing currently that's "flopping" is exactly the kind of music that made her name known in the first place. We can't really say, "She should go back the style that everyone used to like," because that's just it... her singles haven't changed all that much from the style.
Because Ke$ha hasn't been able to be versatile with her single choices, and her only guaranteed hit formula isn't really working anymore, it's difficult to say just what she should actually change. For all we know, Ke$ha releasing a pop-rock song, an EDM song or a ballad may actually perform even worse than her party songs are now (we just don't know, there's nothing to base it on, technically).
As for my personal opinion, I believe that something HAS to change. I believe that something did change in Warrior, but it wasn't the right thing. Listening back to Animal recently, it's just such a FUN record. It's not trying to be relatable or genuine as a whole. Whereas Warrior was clearly trying to show this side to Ke$ha, while keeping with some of the similar themes and sounds of Animal. This just doesn't work... she can't have it half and half. She either needs to make a more genuine record like she wants to, or go back to making carefree fun pop and ADMIT that it's carefree fun pop, without trying to be anything but that.

I agree with all of your points. I really want to see Kesha make a comeback, she's one of my favourite pop girls of all time
Personally, I think Kesha has the versatility to make music that's more current for today, but even if she does release music that's current she could flop harder
While I think that if her next lead single were to sound like her previous singles, it'd still do well, much like "Die Young", it wouldn't benefit the era or album sales much.
I think that I'd really like Ke$ha to try a new sound and theme altogether for her next lead single. It's frustrating how Dr. Luke can produce songs like "Roar" for Katy and "Wrecking Ball" for Miley, yet he produces tracks like "C'Mon" and "Crazy Kids" as singles for Warrior.
I'd really love for her to take a more "Feels Like Rain" direction on the next record. Unlike the flawless "Goodbye", it's a lot more pop, and with classic Dr. Luke production, a more pop/dance-inspired "Feels Like Rain" would be an excellent direction (sort of like "Last Goodbye", I guess).

Kinda seems like Dr. Luke himself has pigeonholded what kind of songs Kesha can release and make tbh :/

Hater, back off. "Crazy Kids" is perfect. And "Roar" and "Wrecking Ball" aren't anything to write home about production wise.

Agreed... because the others aren't on his label, he doesn't really have the main say. Ke$ha on the other hand...

I'm not a hater tho, and I agree "Crazy Kids" is perfect (solo). What I was getting at is that he doesn't produce dance-pop for artists like Katy and Miley, yet he insists on making almost everything he produces for Ke$ha, an artist on his own label, dance-pop (especially the singles), which isn't doing brilliantly as a whole right now (no pun intended, but somewhat appropriate given the scenario).
I have a confession... I think that I just started to majorly stan for "Blah Blah Blah". I mean it's actually amazing... and it has one of Ke$ha's best music videos (third to Take It Off and C'Mon, in my opinion).

I know you're not a hater. It was a reference to something you obviously don't watch, intended as a joke.
The only part of "Crazy Kids" that could be considered dance-pop style production would be the middle 8. The chorus is a perfect guitar driven, beat infused folk-pop part of music history, and the verses are some of the best hippinin'-and-a-hoppinin' dirty base raps that anyone's ears will ever have the pleasure to hear.
I understand your point with "C'mon" and can reluctantly see it with "Die Young" too. (Although the latter will always be one of the best lead singles to emerge in the past 4,826 years.)
I think the problem is that when Dr. Luke branches out with Ke$ha in different genres ("Wonderland", "Dirty Love" etc.) they're not exactly fit to be singles, somewhat leaving only dance-pop songs left. Yes, you have songs like "Only Wanna Dance With You" which is a good ol' bit of funky rock, and "Last Goodbye" which is basically the "Crazy Kids" chorus without the jarring transitions between genres, but one was outcast to the unfortunate status of 'bonus track', and the other's left sounding like a 4th/5th single choice.
So maybe if the "different" tracks were more accessible, more radio-friendly, stronger, then we could possibly see a bit of diversity in her singles.
They have a chance to be, if their old label would've promoted them! But their **** label wouldn't let them release the album that they made (they released 4 songs though). They left now but they're still going through the process of leaving. I hope even if the album is independently released, there's some major success for one of the singes,
