I dont buy expensive ones anymore because they always end up breaking

Things that I do to extend my earphone's/headphone's life:

1. Always made sure they weren't plugged in
2. I never tug them off, I gently pull them off my iPod
3. I never leave them tangled

Anything else I'm missing?
