I was going to get the collectors but I changed my mind and got the special edition. I was only really interested in the blueprint map and the steelbook. I didn't think the collectors was worth double the price for a hat, that bag and character + vehicle DLC for online.

No. Every GTA game is mostly self-contained. So you can just jump in.

Also, I ran into a hilarious situation today.

I wanted to try out the Blimp and see if I could fly over the entire map of San Andreas/Los Santos. I didn't at first know how to pilot the blimp and that lead me into air restricted area over the airport and caused me to get 3 stars.

So I'm trying as hard as I can to fly away from there and I get to the shore of the eastern side of the map with a helicopter trying to catch up to me (and at my higher elevation) when all of a sudden, my blimp loses power and the nose goes diving straight down. I couldn't stop it so I ended up crash landing and exploding in one of the neighborhoods.
