Having 9's isn't that bad though. It's pretty close to perfect in that regard.
GTA has almost never done a story that was akin to TLOU/ME/Arkham City/Uncharted level of standard.
I'd say it's strong suit is gameplay which is right up there with those games though.
Yeah, GTA always has weak stories, and strong gameplay. Probably why it is getting a few 9s. It will probably end with at the lowest 97 Xbox version, 96 PS3 version. Any lower I would be surprised.
I didn't know Mass Effect 2 had a 94 on Metacritic.

There could be worse things. Addictive gameplay in a game with weak stories is preferable to a strong story with weak gameplay value. It's great that some developers find the balance between the two.

Yeah, GTA isn't known for it's stories, but rather for pioneering open-world gameplay and such.

Y'all probably gon' hate me for this but imo, gameplay >>> story. If the game itself is fun, but the story is horrible, I wouldn't care The story is kinda like a "bonus" to me.

Interesting tea. I agree to an extent. Usually it's games of that sort that I have no expectations for like Spider-Man 2, Melee, Mario, etc.

I really like games that tell good stories, but it all depends on the game in question. For example, Deus Ex: Human Revolution had iffy gameplay (to me) but it's still one of my favorite games because of the story and atmosphere.
I've no idea how it'll work, but Rockstar should make another RDR game 
).
That alone should tell you how much I loved the game.
Plus the ending too
