when artists shoot music videos they have "vision boards" which is a board full of cut out pictures & photographs to use as reference for what they want to capture in the video in terms of colour palette, visuals, etc. From what I can remember, for S&M behind the scenes, various David LaChapelle photos were on the vision board.
