don't you think you're overexaggerating a bit on that one? the only female besides Britney that ever had an album debut with over a million copies sold is Norah Jones. Even before piracy, it was extremely difficult for anyone to sell over 1 million in their first week. Eminem, Usher, 50 cent, N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, Norah and Britney are the only ones to do that if I remember correctly. Alicia's got a devoted fanbase so chances are most of her fans are going to buy it rather than download it illegally. The soul music genre hasn't taken too much of a hit because of piracy (i.e. Mary J.'s last album debuted w/ over 700k and sold 3 million altogether, and in less than a month Jill Scott and Keyshia Cole went Gold). At most, As I Am probably would have debuted with 750k before the days of piracy.
