i dunno, obviously "good" is subjective but yeah, but i havent heard anything yet that's indicating to me that this is her best material. in fact, the artpop songs have made me appreciate born this way even more (which in my case doesnt say much, since i already consider it her best album, sonically)

I completely agree. The melodies have been amazing so far, but lyrically I'm a bit underwhelmed. I still love most of the songs from the festival nonetheless.

i dont think she's become lyrically indulgent, in fact, if anything i think she's gone too far the other way and become generic. alot of cliche songwriting//analogies going on so far.

And it really sucks because after statements like:

"my new album is techno/rave", &

"forget your preconceived notions of my music", &

"My fans won't even recognize me (musically)", &

"the new music is fun and dirty dance music",

it's impossible to not expect the material to be some kind of evolution. These statements combined with what she's given us point to her being completely out of touch with reality, and not at all objective about quality (imo).

I feel like she's complete lost "that thing" that made her music PUNCH. Aura's chorus is the level I expected most of the material to be on.

If the swinefest songs are indeed the best, this era will be unfathomably short.

I really like the songs so far, but I do agree that there's something missing. The hooks don't grab you and soar like her previous material. They aren't epic. They don't give me goosebumps. I'm not hearing the full-voiced hooks that make Gaga songs so anthemic.

I think it's because she's trying a new style of writing and delivery. She's giving the verses punch and letting the choruses glide...when she's usually the other way around. It's shaping up to be an album of Judas's crossed with Heavy Metal Lover's.

Like I said, I'm a fan (Sex Dreams has a great chorus, Swine has a relentless insane energy and ARTPOP is a different vibe for her) but I'm hoping the rest of the album will be a real step up.
