^ Leona is on a completely different level from Ashanti and Ariana though. I like Ariana, but her voice can be so whiny and her chest voice always sounds weak to me. Her diction and phrasing is terrible too, I can barely make out what she's saying most of the time.

I love Ariana's tone. She does this weird thing when she sings where she has this totally unaffected, dreamy quality to her voice e.g. the verses of "Daydreamin'" and "Put Your Hearts Up". I've never heard anyone sound like that.

She can get kinda whiny and nasally at times, but I wouldn't say her chest voice is weak. She just has a lighter belt.

And Mariah's tone is far from plain. I've never heard anyone that sounds like her, other than in brief moments.

Really now? I know the difference between diction and tone, thanks. When it comes to my favorite vocalists, I just prefer a little grit and think that AG's tone is simply too clear for my taste. It sounds too polished, which gets kinda boring IMO.

And I actually just listened to her full album this afternoon and only liked 1 or 2 songs, so with her tone + the music she has out, I'm not a fan. I don't hate her or anything, I just don't think what she's bringing right night is very interesting. I'll check out her next album tho.

A lack of new music just means you can go back and re-discover the old gems. I was never really into "If It's Over," but I've been playing that song out over the past month. Some of her live performances of it are her best ever.

Lol, yes I'm sure. There are so many MC songs where I didn't understand what she was saying and had to look up the lyrics (or they just dawned on me one day). I think it's happened with her recent albums more. Examples off the top of my head include: Migrate, More Than Just Friends, Candy Bling, Boy, I Wish You Well...

Even my fave "H.A.T.E.U." -- When I first listened I definitely heard, "Ohh this was a laughing nominom no one could explain." There are a ton of phrases across her discography she doesn't pronounce with perfect diction, which is a good thing in my book.

That should have said, "MC doesn't ALWAYS have clear diction." I guess the way I put it made it sound like she never does.

Apparently Mariah is not happy with how island is handling her release. The leaks are discouraging and the sling situation didn't help.

The album as I've read will get a new cover and title besides the one that leaked.
