Why will he most likely be a One Hit wonder?
Well, it's because of the song and some things about it.
The melody in the xylophones is from an old European country tune, the tune was so strong that Mozart used it for a variation, Gotye made his own variation and all Americans know the tune also, it's Twinkle Twinkle little Star. So he had a good tune
Second, he had a personal story to tell about a break up, always good. So he had good lyrics.
Third, a good song but not a mega smash something lacked. Well, one producer told him he had to write a third verse for a female voice and that was it.
But this don't come often to an artist.
