Simply because it's a really good song. Like, Lorde hasn't physically promoted it by performing it anywhere once, not even in her home country.

She is coming and she is coming hard, with a debut album that we have not often seen
And they know it in the industry and they place her near pure art

It seems that the Miley, Katy and Britney stans dislike this song. (just something I saw in common)
But how can ya'll hate it, it's like harmonies, dynamics, acapella it's...it's my kind of song.

I noticed that also, sure not all (not so much Katy fans) but many wiil be embarrassed when the are older and the look back wether their taste in music, it's always the same.

I prefer Grimes over Lorde. They're kinda the same with the vocal enya type of stuff. But Royals is a good bop. I like the love club.
