Can somebody explain to me what the 3 day vs 4 day weekend opening thing is all about? I'm so confused. And I'm hearing so many conflicting reports. So which movie was #1 This Is Us or The Butler?

3 day meaning the tickets sold starting from Friday to Sunday night, I think. Four day includes Monday's holiday.

It's essentially about who sold more over the weekend. Which the number of days is debatable.

Oh thanks. So did This Is Us not play in theaters today or something? I don't get it. Why would 1D beat beat The Butler for the 3 day weekend, but somehow The Butler made more on Labor Day?

It probably just means that a lot of people turned out yesterday (Labor Day) for it than most of the weekend.

Besides, documentaries rarely sell well over a long period of time. It's typically one that sells the most at the start of its opening weekend than it does the rest of its theatrical run.

Okay, I saw the movie!

There was about 20-30 other people there. Mainly young/teenage girls with their respective guardians. All of them were being so loud and giggly when I got into the theater and I was like 'Oh great '. Thankfully they shut the hell up when the movie started! At the beginning when the Modest management logo appeared on the screen, some girl yelled 'No one likes you, Modest!' and then some other girl at the other side of the theater yelled 'Yes, I agree!' LIKE, what even?

The film was nice, I enjoyed it. So many gratuitous 3D close ups of Liam I swear! More than any of the other boys I'm pretty sure. But when they showed the X Factor clips I was hoping they would show Cheryl Cole! Louis Walsh and even Nicole Scherzinger (who was a guest judge at the time) got screen time. It would have been so nice to see my absolute fave on the big screen in 3D I think they showed her finger pointing when there was a close-up of Simon making a comment, but that was it!

I'm glad the little girls in my theater shut up for most of the movie, people only made noise when there was a funny scene. THANK GOODNESS. I was ready to tell those kids to stfu if they were going to start with the screaming. But I can't blame them that much since I was like them when NSYNC and BSB were hot.
