But you want her to go straight into making serious films? I guess it could work. But all the best movie stars have a wide range of movies. She can't just do serious roles. Not even Meryl Streep does that.

The thing is, as someone who's primarily a singer, she's already at a disadvantage in the film industry and because of that it's all to easy to be relegated to fluff roles in unremarkable films. Legitimately good comedies are hard to come by and the cast in the frequent disposable ones feature actors who are often trapped in the whirlpool that is the comedy corner. That'd to two disadvantages against her, and without being able to fully show range, she'd be stuffed in that regard.
It's interesting you bring up Meryl, because she's an actress who's talent is undeniable, but it got that way because of the foundations she laid. She's a child of the theatre and acting school. It wasn't until being in the industry for quite some time before she ventured into comedies - she had a strong acting background, showed her skill and was able to switch between genres without getting trapped. That type of role progression isn't just limited to Meryl, in fact it's the most successful.
Now, perhaps I was taking it a little too far with the serious things, because dramas ofter plenty of opportunity for humour, and a modestly budgeted, feel good film could be just what Beyoncé should be doing right now, but it needs to be kept real and light on the cheese.
