Their "hated" because of their fans. BUT, the same can be said about every stan base.
The Hive and monsters are just so damn extra.

Why do people here want everyone to hail their faves as musical geniuses? Does it give some sort of vicarious validation to someone who stans for an artist such as GaGa or Beyonce to hear how great they are? Just be happy for your fave and ignore the haters. Besides, I'm 95% sure people here "hate" artists to troll their fans and nothing more.

If "Applause" was released by any artist who didn't have hype, it wouldn't even chart. It's not a song that is good to the point where it can grow over time (IE: STIUTK, Safe & Sound) instead it's just a generic pop/dance song with mediocre chords, mediocre vocal production, and no creativity. I'm not blaming Gaga so much as I am DJWS. He can't produce well and doesn't fit Gaga's vision of being a creative musician.

Clock me a BIT. I better see a Poker Face-sized masterpiece on that album.

Bey & Gaga are as close to the total package as pop stars, in general, get. They have singing talent, they can put on a show, they're headstrong, they're album sellers in a time where most singers are celebrating over how fast their record can go #1 or how long it can stay there. Stans dislike artists who have one big characteristic their fave lacks because no amount of word twisting, number crunching, or ugly pictures can make up for it.
It's the same way in real life. Where people generally dislike a certain person for a quality that person possesses that they themselves lack and would love to have.

Is that your argument for why it's not a good pop song? That's musically simplistic and uses a synth patch you're familiar with? As a Beatles fan, you of all people should be aware that the best pop songs are the simplest. So please take your recording studio internship ass out of this thread until you can formulate a proper argument that actually responds to the statement you're trying to dismiss with pointless remarks you picked up at a Guitar Center.

The fact that some of you are arguing and priding yourselves on supposedly having the most hated fave on ATRL is EXACTLY why they are hated on.
The sheer lack of self-awareness is alarming.

How unhealthy and unstable can someone be to not like an artist because of their fans? That makes literally no sense. I pray for these kinds of people. Life is too short...

And most people on ATRL DO like the artist but they drag them either way just for the hell of it.
That's probably why most of us joined.
I don't think anyone ACTUALLY hates the artist in real life. Or I would hope not.

I'm saying that Applause uses a generic & basic chord progression first off. I'm also stating that her synth isn't groundbreaking and sounds like nearly every dance song put out in 2010. Sorry you couldn't understand basic logic. I don't like generic music. For an artist who states she wants to be creative and innovative, she isn't doing a good job with a basic dance song. Simple as that.
PS: I'm a Gaga fan. I love quite a few tracks off BTW and TFM. There are those that I dislike and can't stand though. A real fan or stan of an artist doesn't have to like 100% of their work, it's fine to disagree with releases and the direction the artist is going.

Beyonce on the other hand I don't see anybody hate? I see people hate on her fanbase but not on the artist herself.
