I'm still waiting on this 7.5 million receipt. And there have been many songs that have sold a ton but no one thinks about them, they aren't references or they are just viewed as 'footnotes' of their time periods.

The song just came out last year. If the world is still spinning several years from now, we'll see what relevance "Diamonds" has on culture or radio.

Beyonces singles catalog is weak but I think its because she gets stuck in her sound. She has a bad habit of trying to re-create past hits. Bday album was all about re-creating CIL, Single Ladies re-does Get me Bodied, If I were a Boy rehashes Irreplaceable, RTW Girls with Single Ladies, etc. As an overall package/artist, Rihanna is more progressive. That's why she's stuck on her 5th album.

While she may be the "performer of her generation" (tbf her current peers are p!ss poor in that aspect), she has not one creative bone in her body. All of her peers bar Kelly & Avril have been able to reinvent themselves throughout eras and offer different themes within their music but Beyonce cannot.

This is either bc she's scared of failure or that she'll alienate a quarter of her fanbase.
