I guess from my experience I think differently I don't expect family to have your back and love/treat each other fairly. It's just like a group of people who just happen to share your blood you love some, can't stand others, alliances, pettiness, insecurities etc.... But that's just how I see it

I really respect that sentiment, and it is what should be the reality. But from my own experience, that is not the case and sometimes you have to let something go if it holds YOU down negatively and prevents you from progressing. No matter who, or what that may be.

**** that Clark. I hope you never have to experience this, but family can be some of the most ruthless people in your life. I've come to realize that it seems like they hurt me more and I honestly believe it's because they have the mentality that I have to sit and take it because of the fact that we are family and we have to deal with each other. Blood is thicker than water, but both of it leaks and it takes more than just sharing the same blood to make someone family. If you ain't loyal to me, don't have faith in me, or love me you good as dead to me.

You see, my brother has always had a very negative relationship with our father, due in large part to our mother's negative relationship with our father. The lack of love between my family members is definitely one of, if not my biggest, pains in life. For reasons I don't care to state, my parents' marriage (and financial situation lolz) has been falling apart since we were small children.

It's the way they talk about each other in front of us - and always have. My mom told us something about our dad that she ****ing shouldn't have at our age. That has colored our view and perception of him. She's blamed so much **** on my father because of it; sometimes rightfully and sometimes not. My mom has always been the one my brother runs to when him and Dad bump heads. My mom, out of spite, basically ENCOURAGES the the hate for our Dad in my brother. And then my Dad has always been very verbal about our Mom's flaws, mistakes, etc. He's told us, particularly me, a lot that I shouldn't know. It has weighed on me a lot.

My mother has succeeded in turning my brother on my father, but my father has failed to turn me on my mother. Why? I don't believe in that ****. My brother tried to tell me that we were split into sides/teams once and I was like... ...pls. But it is that way I guess.

We're all breaking up now!

It's really all relative to your own life experiences. I understand where you are coming from, but my dad's side of the family has always tried to push me away and I honestly tried to make it work despite being ridiculed and frowned down upon. There's only so much one can take or do.

Your parents definitely shouldn't be using you and your brother to spite each other though.

This. Even family can stab you in the back, so undying loyalty in all circumstances definitely isn't attainable or healthy.
