You need a flashcard for the DS. Google it and you will a few thousend of them, I'd recommend the R4.
They don't work on a 3DS and obviously don't play 3DS games either.
You better make sure you pre-order Pokémon X though, the link is in my sig under 'Little Pokémonster'
