Wow, I just realized Vma night is my last night of summer. I start school the day after.

You are probably right tbh though I see more correlations to Madonna's rise to fame in Gaga than Rihanna. Both had sleeper hits with their debut albums (Holiday/Pokerface) and didnt really blow up until the year after their debuts (1984/2009). Then, in Nov. of those respective years their real breakthroughs came (Like a Virgin/Bad Romance.) The new mediums of music videos also were big tool in their success (mtv & youtube/vevo). Rihanna never really blew up until Umbrella. Before that, she was just Bajan Beyonce.
