Being a high-school dropout isn't a bad thing

as Flanders said, you don't need to have education to succeed. There are more options in this world than being hired by someone. There are many millionaires, and probably billionaires who have never gone to college/graduated high school. And having book smarts doesn't guarantee huge success (millionaire+ status) in the first place.
The valedictorian at my sister's graduation (who had over a 4.3 GPA) wanted to be a social worker. If you don't realize, you don't use book smarts in the real world that often.
