Rihanna is on tour right now, that counts as promo.. You tour to promote an album.
Gaga wasn't on tour, hence why there are many performances of her songs all around the world.
I'm not getting involved in this bickering, but some of y'all need to understand the concept of a tour and stop trying to drag "promo".
has iconic performances worthy of standing ovations that shoot her songs to #1 (yes, it is possible with a single performance) and have more views than any live performance from gags
she can play the drums ( dont need to say she just smashing the plates when I know dont any of yall know anything about instruments much less drums)
she can play the guitar
she wrote most of the best album of all time aka Rated R and one of the most critically acclaimed mainstream pop albums by critics

Yeah. Gaga's a much better album seller, a much better performer with better tours, has more social and media presence, and is more talented. All they can do is drag a two-year-old single that still did better than all her flops.
If Rihanna promoted the way Gaga did, she would be close to 40m by now
I wouldnt tour more than 30 dates if I were her. I would just serve Mariah teas, and just spend eras churning out hits while doing intl promo to push the album.
Edit: wait! What kind of bad stan am I? BTW was also $16 though out 2011+2012 (apart from the first week for 2 days on amazon in the US, same as rated r)
What I CAN give you is that gags is more consitent in good performances but Rihanna's highs are much better than her highs so she still loses. Rihanna wins in TALENT, BEAUTY AND NUMBERS.
