Because she doesn't seem like she has a voice or style that would go well with the song. "Cake" was cringeworthy, and it's not even trap.

The music video, combined with a radio deal/VEVO banners/iTunes banners/MTV commercials/pre-order buzz, is MORE than enough for 6 days until the VMAs. If the song cant hold itself that long, its destined to flop.

I don't think so. The VMA's, music video release, and radio spinning it will be enough promo as there will lots of buzz because it's her 'comeback'.
I see her doing talk show promo etc. around October/November for the 2nd single & album.

Late night talk shows don't do much if at all for a single. Ellen has very little effect
She has no high profile promo she could be doing... the only thing I can think of is iternet or TV ads,


Maybe a new Fame commercial AD featuring Applause.

Well Ellen doesn't begin its season until beginning of September, if I'm not mistaken.
