Why do people use the word "indie" reffering to independent releases (without major record label)?
Isn't indie a genre?
Well, indie started off meaning released without a major label backing but as time went on it started to branch out and people would use the term to describe music that sounded like the original indie music, even if it was released on a major label. Like some people will call Imagine Dragons "indie" even though they're technically not because they're on Interscope. So basically it's just a widely misused term now. If this makes any sense

Well, it can be used two ways. To describe the condition of a release, and to describe the music.
Indie music is more of a "sound" than a genre. It usually is less complex in production and vocals kind of have the... well, ''indie" feel to them. Indie pop and indie rock themselves are genres.
Why is it that I can go weeks without really having any interest in talking to a person, but the second they say they won't be able to contact anyone for a couple of weeks, I get really sad and start to miss them?
