I stan for everything. Taylor CAN sing, but not always. I think there are somethings she should have learned by now. Yes, thank God, she's been staying on-key these days for a change, but there are some vocal mistakes she makes that are not just the result of bad vocal training, but the result of not singing SMARTLY. Don't try to belt in a verse where there's absolutely no belting, especially when you can't belt.

The highlighted bits are where she switches into Her falsetto register in the studio version. She rarely does it live; I wonder why? Is she afraid of damaging Her vocals over time? Perhaps, but then you see Her employ it in every Treacherous performance.

I said "There are other vocal mistakes than being off-key" because you criticized us for ranting about her going off-key when we didn't say that because she didn't even go off-key here, so it seemed to me that you thought her only vocal problem was going off-key

And yup, I bashed the TOMG performance because of the shouty belts/yelling and trying to sing the song fiercely for no reason

And I don't get why sometimes she tries to belt falsetto notes too.

It's kind of disappointing, because that is probably my favourite part in YBWM.

I think she does that because, the highlighted parts aside, the verse is sung in the midrange to low register and she can't switch from her low register to falsetto that fast/smoothly without sounding shaky and losing breath.

Taylor is really lucky she got signed tbh, she could have just ended up a songwriter.
Her vocals are good enough for the studio and that's what is most important imo.

Her studio vocals are better than her live ones, but what I love about Taylor is that she doesn't user Auto-tune or anything that manipulates the voice. She does the same mistakes in both live and studio vocals. Like on The Lucky One, the low note-high note-low note-high note is pitchy and not resonant whether studio or live. I respect that about her.

I love Taylor because She perfectly captures those emotions for Her songs that most technical singers can't. Sometimes, She just can't translate some of those moments into Her live performances. That is all.
