So I've decided to go ahead and upgrade on my personal iPhone, against the warnings of some. I'm getting an iPhone 5 in a few weeks at the most anyway. However, as I'd rather not carry around a brick for those weeks, is there anything specific that I should know to be cautious about so far?
Put it on my iPhone the day it was announced. It ran a little slow at first but it finally figured itself out and it's been BEAUTIFUL ever since. The UI is much more cohesive and it's just so damn pretty. Everyone who hasn't personally used it saying the design is "unintuitive" and "non-cohesive" needs to try it before they start jumping on the bandwagon. Skeumorphism (used predominately in iOS 6) is ugly and this is a nice return to form for a pretty OS by Apple.
Did you need your Apple ID to update it??
Is there any risks about blocking your device or account?
Nah, none at all. I'm not a registered developer, but it "verifies" the update with Apple, and my device and account are still working 100% normally! I don't think they really care, more of an "if you brick your device it's your fault" attitude than an aggressive one.
I have had very small problems with the beta and by "very small" i almost mean miniscule
Nothing has crashed for me other than Skype but I barely use skype on my phone regardless
The only other real problems I've had are:
Battery life (obviously... it's a beta)
Instagram. When I scroll down I can see pictures fine, but If I try to scroll back up, the pictures turn into grey boxes
I don't mind that though because all you need to do to fix it is refresh
Other than that everything has worked flawlessly
I have a 5 and a few of my other friends running the beta have 4's/4s's and they claim it's a bit laggy on their phones
Having seen it in person it's starting to grow on me. The pics online don't do it ANY justice. Still not liking a couple of the icons, but some of the new features are beautiful
