i can understand that criticism for frank... but for me erykah is anything but detached or cold her music is very warm and inviting to me.
I have issues with Erica for the same reason I have issues with Mr. Ocean - they make R&B music for people who don't actually like R&B music. There's a way to make soul/R&B that's still intelligent and thoughtful without being so removed as to not be soulful; people like Jill Scott, Brandy and (recently) Miguel do that exquisitely.
I definitely feel that way about Frank. NOT Erykah though.
