I know there were other sources as well, but I am having trouble locating them. I know for sure at one point or another it was getting the full treatment, but it has been so long since we last heard anything that it could have been called off for all we know.

It isn't. Either a fan made cover or a filler release cover (pending a real photo shoot).

They can't promote because they're on tour.
It makes sense if they release it alongside (or just before) the movie. I thought that was the plan from the get-go?

That is too late. If that is when they are doing promo it will be for the lead single of the next album. June is really the only opportunity they have to release another single from TMH.

I don't think them being on tour would be a big hindrance to a single. There are plenty of ways to promo besides interviews.

But if the movie is in August, and the album is December, how will this release schedule work.

You sure the album is in December? I see them sticking with a schedule that launches before Thanksgiving in the US giving them maximum sales during the holidays. With the lead single in September or early October.

I thought Louis has said twice now that the album will be released "just before Christmas".
I initially assumed it would be a November release, and it still might be, but from what they've said I think it's a December album.

I want a Christmas album this year

They can cover some hit Christmas songs on the album too

Rock Me needs to be released to radio in mid-June with a video release in early-July. The boys can do radio interviews over the phone while on tour all throughout July. If the song smashes like it's meant to, I can see it peaking at the end of September, just in the time for the 1st single from their next album. Perfect.
