Yeah, when you make teen-pop music, at least half of your fans are kids. A shocker! *NSYNC suffered the same drop from "No Strings Attached" to "Celebrity" once they switched things up a bit. Backstreet Boys went from 8x platinum to barely going platinum. It could have been much worse.

The sweet image wouldn't have worked anymore in her twenties.

LMAO. Since 2006, only 4 albums have done it. Justin's "FutureSex/LoveSounds," Amy's "Back to Black" (thanks to a posthumous sales bump,") The Fame/Monster (thanks to a re-release,) and Adele's "21.” No other albums were close to the milestone.

Are you forgetting the music video for "I Love Rock 'N' Roll?" Dancing in the rain in an almost see through outfit in "Overprotected," showing off her underwear? No one cares about album tracks because the singles represent the record. "Slave" was a huge departure from her previous work that it threw everyone off.

Didn't say there were big hits, but 'did quite well', especially considering the US chart performance. Not A Girl and Overprotected did go top 10 in quite a lot of countries in Europe.

I'd say Viva La Vida is already at around 9m, I think Mediatraffic estimated it at that as well and JT at 9.3m or smth.

Britney still 4th and not so far behind all those girls getting the biggest eras of their careers. Sales in general just decreased a lot during that year compared to 2000, 'Britney' was definitely a big commercial success, despite the unfortunate radio ban in the US. Without it, I'm pretty sure it could have sold 1m+ extra in the US throughout the era.
