Dark Side flopped because it was the wrong song. Someday people will reconcile themselves to that fact.

...and I say this as someone who has Dark Side in their Last.fm top five overall tracks.

The day I picked up the album I knew Stronger would smash, I struggled to find a second "for sure" single. Apparently the public did as well.

Dark Side followed a smash WELL after the smash was released. Stronger wasn't doing anything worldwide when Dark Side was released.

And Dark Side was promoted on the Billboard Music Awards & Dancing With The Stars and went no where.

MKIA reacted immediately to promo overseas. It rocketed to #1 after promo in Australia & #8 in NZ without promo (one of her highest charting singles there).

Dark Side didn't even dent to the top 40 in the UK despite promo.

It was a flop & it would of been regardless of when it was released.

And this "charting high" affects the next single is BS. Look at Maroon 5. Radio just obviously preferred Stronger the single over Dark Side. Had I Forgive You been released they might of been more willing to jump on.

You can not compare the promo for Darkside and MKIA.
How can the GP even generate interest to a song that was only sung half way?
Can you really call her trip to UK a promo? Didn't she only sing that on Loose women? And that amazing Coldplay would of pushed any interest on DS aside.
MKIA was a FIRST single and was practically shoved down our throats in AUS, she did radio interviews, morning tv shows, special guest on MAJOR sports event all within a very short amount of time

Delusional people. Her performance on the Billboard Music Awards was two weeks before the radio adds date. In no way is that ideal for promo.

After that, it rose on it's own from moderate airplay and reached #25 on iTunes. It just needed a big performance around that same time (VMA's) to propel it higher on radio and potentially top 10 on iTunes. And voila. You have a hit. But they chose to save the promo for CMB as Stronger the album was already about finished. Let us not forget the Music Video which did nothing for the song

Can't that Dark Side feud stop already? It's been going for months now. It has flopped and it's not even that good. Besides, it's just a single. There are other things to worry about .

I'm starting to get really annoyed that we haven't heard a peep about PLU! No teaser? Official single cover? Lyric video? Announcement of first performance? And where is Kelly lol? Is she off shedding a few pounds for the video? She debuted that random country song and then disappeared.

Either they're prepping for a big (double) release or doing nothing at all. Why can't they make an official announcement about the tour either? It's almost April.

Besides, no one cares if a final single flops.

It wasn't even Dark Side's fault to be honest. It seemed like radio wasn't here for it, and on top of that, when it was released to radio and as a single last year, RCA basically ended the era a month later. Or did you guys forget that Kelly was basically preparing for the Greatest Hits era by that point?

ETA: I need a studio version of Kelly's "Mama's Broken Heart" rendition. Or at least a live performance without that heffer girl interrupting.

Just that live and epic Duet performance (minus Jordan) blew Miranda Lambert's irrelevant version out of the water. The song should have been handed to Kelly instead...
