Ummm no.
Dark Side followed a smash WELL after the smash was released. Stronger wasn't doing anything worldwide when Dark Side was released.
And Dark Side was promoted on the Billboard Music Awards & Dancing With The Stars and went no where.
MKIA reacted immediately to promo overseas. It rocketed to #1 after promo in Australia & #8 in NZ without promo (one of her highest charting singles there).
Dark Side didn't even dent to the top 40 in the UK despite promo.
It was a flop & it would of been regardless of when it was released.
And this "charting high" affects the next single is BS. Look at Maroon 5. Radio just obviously preferred Stronger the single over Dark Side. Had I Forgive You been released they might of been more willing to jump on.
