Beginning of the end for dance pop it seems.

Perhaps "beginning of the end" is a little strong... It'll remain a major force on the charts, though it'll be slowly replaced by more "EDM" style dance music, I think.

Well, dance pop IS an offshoot of EDM, which is something a lot of people have been overlooking.
And what I mean is, specifically, with producers like RedOne (and to a lesser extent, Dr. Luke) their sound(s) aren't quite as commercially viable anymore. With songs like DYWC and Sweet Nothing, I think that there can still be dance hits.
Things could be different come summertime, but the song of the summer this year could end up being Macklemore's "Can't Hold Us" for all we know.

I'd say the "beginning of the end" for dance-pop was Adele-mania in 2011 tbh. There was much less dance-pop in the charts in 2012 than there was in 2011, and the trend only looks to continue further.
But as another poster, dance-pop will never completely disappear from the charts. Even in 2004 there were dance songs in the charts (not to mention crunk and trap were big in the charts at the time and they take elements from eurodance music, so we might get another new movement which does the same). But let's put it this way, there'll be a time probably in a few years where the pop girls won't want to release their dance-pop songs as singles because they won't want to flop.
Also, Pitbull/Christina Aguilera will probably be top 10 in a few weeks. Especially since Pitbull seems to be huge on Youtube.

Hopefully top 20 this week. I can't believe it's done so well, I honestly never expected this. I was fearing these would do like California King Bed and Man Down.

Harlem Shake will start falling quite sharply (in terms of overall percentage points) soon. It's losing ground fast on iTunes & overall it just seems to be dying down. Radio was insignificant anyway but it's not going to be getting any more airplay than it already is.

I feel like it's been wasted, though. Aside from the annoying fact that she seems to hate shooting videos for urban singles, the song will never even get a chance at a good radio peak now. Mess.
