Superbowl and sponsors paid Madonna to do her job and that's to bring in the views and exceeded beyond their expectations.
And its up to those to match or outdo the previous act , not to fall short of the goal.

WTF? The delusion in this comment is beyond comprehension. Twas Madonna who used the event to:

1) Pre-sale her new album (50,000 in pre-sales)
2) Pre-sale her new tour with arena and stadium sell-outs
3) Sell her new single (Top 10)

Beyonce, if anything, didn't take full advantage of the SB stage in a promotional manner. She also followed in Madonna's footsteps in the promotions she did do.
