OH, 'MY'!: As Fox's "American Idol" begins its 12th season, Kelly Clarkson, the series' original champion (2002), widens her lead for the most Adult Pop Songs top 10s among women (12), as "Catch My Breath" rises 12-10.
Clarkson pushes further ahead of Sheryl Crow, Katy Perry and P!nk, each with 10 Adult Pop Songs top 10s. Among all artists, only Goo Goo Dolls (14), Maroon 5 and matchbox twenty (13 each) have tallied more top 10s, while Train has also amassed 12.
The recent inflation don't count. It's what the airplay is at the peak of the song's shelf life that matters.
Tbh, I always forget how low of an airplay MKIA had and still managed to snag a top 10 placement. It will piss me off if the superior CMB can't do it.
Truth that CMB >> MKIA. I never was a huge fan of MKIA but it was pleasant enough. It only reached Top 10 thanks to the AMA performance though. And it only lasted one week in that spot.
I think Kelly's only shot at Top 10 with CMB is a Grammy performance. If you look at pop, she's pushed back down to #21 and there's a huge gap between top 10 and top 20 - and most every song in between is growing faster than CMB. She's going to get stuck just like MKIA. But at least MKIA got stuck at #11.
Jordan Meredith's first song. Kelly is such a saint for actually continuing to help her contestants. I'm willing to bet the other judges just dropped their contestants after the show ended.. but clearly not Kelly! This song is written in part by Ashley Arrison and is produced by Jason Halbert. So, it's obvious Kelly is still lending a huge helping hand.
It's not a terrible song. It's not great either. I think it sounds like a wannabe Pink or Kelly song and the production is too heavy for Jordan's voice on it. But, it's a decent try. I'm not sure if it will catch the attention of a label for a record deal, though.

Hmm I'm kind of liking this Her voice sounds really good in the studio, I honestly wasn't that impressed with her on Duets. I like the country influence on the song too.
Who are Shane McAnally () and Josh Osborne? Have they worked with Kelly too? Their names sound familiar.
It looks like those guys have written some stuff for that show Nashville so maybe that's how I recognize their names? I definitely feel like I've seen McAnally's name mentioned here in base before though...
I think the song's cute, it sounds like a less catchy pre-Red Taylor Swift song.
Hey folks - I do not post much and I do not have a position in the industry but I do live in DC so you will have to just believe/not believe me when I say that I met the inauguration director tonight (fellow gay dude). He told me that he was pushing for Kelly not to perform at the inauguration - I'm not gonna get into his superficial reasons why - but that he was overruled because someone REALLY wanted her...and that person was PRESIDENT F*NG BARACK OBAMA!!!! I was beside myself when i heard and i assured the inauguration director that he would think twice after she performed. Just wanted to share - very proud moment tonight. The President not only picked but INSISTED on her!
