Not always. The remakes tend to focus more on the violence / gore then on actually being scary. And the filming/acting is sometimes worse in the remakes too.

I was reading this thread last night and I've just watched Eden Lake based on some of your recommendations. Ugh that movie is sick. The worse part is that similar stories actually happen in real life and it's just sad Still, a great horror film but I feel depressed after watching it.
And how FLAWLESS is the Evil Dead trailer? I can't at the tongue scene!

You should still give the remakes a chance even if you do stan for the originals

But the originals aren't even scary... and the acting is NEVER better in the original than the remake... people these days tend to be better actors... I mean look at a nightmare on elm street... when the girl wakes up in the classroom (in the original) and starts screaming whilst shaking about the place, when the teacher stops her she is clearly trying not to laugh

I love old horror films, from White Zombie, The Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Psycho, Amityville Horror, etc but the remakes could also be good. You can still stan for the old, and love the new. Who says you have to choose one or the other?

What is considered "scary" has definitely changed over the years. You have to remember Jaws scared this s*** out of everyone in the 70s, if it was made today, people may not even find it scary at all. The Exorcist was also considered scary back then, but it probably won't be as scary in this generation.

I watched the remake to Nightmare on Elm, the special effects were on point. It was a good movie, I just didn't like Freddy. I thought Kelly Rowland was in this one, but she was in Freddy vs Jason.

Now Im watching Cabin in the Woods, my baby daddy is in this Chris hemsworth

Yea I'm not sure about that 'Smiley' movie. The mask looks cheesy and the acting doesn't look any better.... Especially when she says "He ripped my SHIRT!!!"

I genuinely don't remember Jamies titties... I remember the girl's at the very beginning of the film becuase they were HUGE... and she was naked

Just saw The Possession in Full HD.
It was a very good movie, but I was expecting to get more scared (it's 3 AM here, I watched it in the dark + headphone, but wasn't enough apparently)
