Adam Levine and Usher are the quintessential "male popstars" of our
generation. They have both proven longevity and consistent hits for
over a decade. Timberlake only released two albums.

Wrong, Usher & Maroon 5 both saw flop/underperforming eras, pushing them to change to generic music styles for hits and relevancy.
When you have people like Justin Bieber who claim to be better than the beatles and michael jackson combined, then yes, the music industry needs JT to show these boys how it's done, and also how real talent looks like.
ATRL is hyping him up way too much. Yes, he was good back in '06/'07. But it's been so long since he's been in the music scene (the occasional song written/produced for another artist doesn't really count) that he's not going to be as successful as y'all think.
I see him having Femme Fatale-like success. It's just been too long.
I can't with people saying we need "real" male popstars or whatever. They're out there but y'all just hate them because they're men.
We don't need him, but I think I'd prefer him over all of the non-indie men listed in the OP. Unfortunately, his comeback probably won't end any of their careers... But I wouldn't mind if it did.

I stan very hard for Usher the same way I stan for Justin. Usher has been very consistent, is his new music great to everyone?.. that's a different story. Even though Justin has only made 2 albums those albums were very good. It would be a shame if Justin was to flop (people are anticipating this so I doubt he will) And Adam Levine please
It depends. If his new song sounds outdated then I can honestly say that what we don't need now is outdated music. Let's face it, Timbaland isn't as fresh as he used to be.
But, sure, I think it'd be nice to have a GLOBAL male back in the scene. All those male acts you mentioned in the OP lack something, whether it's sales, looks, performance skills, or good music. Justin has all of that. So I would say we do need him. A male pop star who can dominate WW with both albums and singles, slay the performances and critics, and still look hot.
Bruno Mars.
We don't really NEED him per say but it would be nice having another major player in the game
