Live the College Life, Relax in Paradise, Travel to the Future and More in The Sims 3 This Year
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Whether partying with class or venturing into open seas, The Sims™ has you covered this year with the release of new expansion and stuff packs to add depth, variety and new ways to play with life in The Sims 3 for PC/Mac. The Maxis Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) announced today that The Sims 3 University Life andThe Sims 3 Island Paradise Expansion Packs*, and an untitled new expansion and a stuff pack are in development and will be available to players in 2013. Also, available on January 22 is The Sims 3 70s, 80s, & 90s Stuff, in which players can warp their Sims back in time with the hottest fashions, hairstyles and furnishings from decades past.
“With the release of three new expansion packs, a new stuff pack, and premium content through The Sims 3 Store, we are looking forward to seeing what our players create and share online with so many great options,” said Scott Evans General Manager of The Sims Studio. He continues, “We are dedicated to building quality games with unique themes and exciting new content for The Sims 3 that add tremendous depth to The Sims 3 gameplay experience.”
Coming this March, The Sims 3 University Life will give players an opportunity to leave home and attend university, where they will enroll in classes, earn degrees and discover the crazy antics and hijinks that go hand-in-hand with the college lifestyle. From juice-keggers to new social groups, to protests in the quad and young love, there’s much more to university than time spent in the classroom. Sims will explore an all-new college town filled with new locations to visit such as the bowling alley and SimBurger and discover hidden talents through an array of extra-curricular activities, including spray painting murals, playing games of kicky bag in the quad and so much more!
The Sims 3 University Life opens a new chapter for young adult to elder Sims and anyone in between. Once a Sim is enrolled in university, they will pick from one of six majors and work towards earning a degree. From class activities to major-specific objects, The Sims 3 University Life will poise Sims for multiple benefits in their careers, including accelerated pay, higher career entry, new opportunities and more.
Available for pre-order is The Sims 3 University Life Limited Edition Expansion Pack, which includes the Party Pack consisting of the Partaeus Maximus statue, a toga outfit and a masquerade mask. The Partaeus Maximus statue is an all-new object that will appear in the university world and enable Sims to choose from six different party themes and throw the ultimate bash.
Dropping anchor this June is The Sims 3 Island Paradise, an expansion pack filled with adventure, exploration and a world of new discoveries set on the sunny shores and beneath the glistening water of a tropical paradise. For the first time ever, Sims can take the helm of fully customizable houseboats and set sail in search of uncharted islands, create, own and manage resorts or discover what lies beneath the ocean through the new skill-based scuba diving and snorkeling activities. The Sims 3 Island Paradise introduces all new ways to build – whether it’s a lavish five-star resort, a bungalow on the water or a houseboat that can travel the seas. Players can create their own idea of island paradise for their Sims in this new expansion pack and embark on an unforgettable journey.
Launching this fall is an all-new stuff pack that is filled with clothing and décor inspired by iconic movie themes and settings. Additionally this fall, Sims will finally be able to travel to the future in an all-new expansion pack, currently untitled. More details will be revealed in the coming months, but Sims will certainly have the time of their lives this year with the offerings from The Sims 3.
The Sims 3 University Life israted “T” for Teen and the rating is pending for The Sims 3 Island Paradise. The Sims 3 University Life is currently available for pre-order online and across retailers worldwide.

Oh here's more!

Are your Sims ready for the time of their lives? Heading off to college in The Sims 3 University Life* opens up new opportunities, from social connections to career growth. From class activities to major-specific objects, your Sim will find new ways to learn!
And university isn’t just about hitting the books. Join a protest, flirt at a bonfire party-there’s a lot to explore outside of lectures at the student union. With new locations like the bowling alley and SimBurger to visit, and new activities like juice pong and spray painting murals to enjoy, your Sims are sure to have the time of their lives!
Achieve Academic Excellence. Learning is more fun than ever with new major-specific objects. Your Sims can broadcast their own radio show as a Communications student or bone up on anatomy using the skeleton as a Science and Medicine major. Your Sims can also learn through class activities, lectures at the student union, and joining in social activities.
Get Ready to Party! Text books and study groups are a big part of college, but sometimes Sims just need to party! From hosting bonfires by the lake to doing juice keg stands at a dorm party, there are lots of ways to have a great time and let loose.
Make Connections and Network. Grow your social networking skill through texting, blogging and streaming video. This builds your affiliation with the three social groups on campus – the Nerds, the Rebels and the Jocks. Building your cred with these groups offers unique advantages, from earning dream jobs to a coveted extra trait.
Actions Matter. Just like in real life, your Sims’ decisions are deeply interconnected. For example, a Fine Arts student benefits from the Avant Garde trait, and develops their Street Art skill and cred with the Rebels by tagging and spray painting. Just don’t let your Sims get caught by the cops!
Reap Benefits After University Too! Help your Sims reach the top job in your career path more easily with faster promotions and a higher entry-level job for university grads. If your Sim becomes a legend with their social group, they may even land a dream job as an art appraiser, sports agent, or video game developer!
Explore the Campus and Town. From striking out at the bowling alley to flirting with the barista at the Roasted Toasted Beans to browsing comic books at Keith’s Komics, there’s a whole new town and campus full of places to explore.

As a builder, those buildings better not be rabbit holes. I better be able to use those windows, buttresses, and all the other fancy things.
I am tired of being subbed with architecture elements x___x I have no motivation to upload any more things to MTS because nothing about the game catches my eye anymore.

My guess is that most of these awesome university structures will be rabbit holes or shell buildings.
But this little campus they've created looks pretty fantastic.
My hope is that they will spend sufficient time testing this expansion. Any bugs will, of course, be corrected with subsequent updates, but I'm always a bit concerned by any expansion that allows a sim from my neighborhood to temporarily visit a different world. We haven't forgotten World Adventures.

I wish they incorporate the mechanics from OFB in the future before Sims 4. I need to own a business again.

Ambitions allowed you to do professions but you still can't run a full fledge business like a restaurant or a clothing store.

I think others will probably disagree with me, but I'd probably suggest Ambitions. It's light on new material for an expansion pack, and for that reason some will argue that it isn't worth the money, but the new professions are rather amusing and offer an interesting challenge if you take work seriously and attempt to master whatever profession you've taken on.
Showtime can also be challenging if you put effort into making your sim a skilled and in-demand performer. But I've encountered a number of kinks while playing, and I'm not too keen on the SimPort and new features introduced to keep players connected. In a different world, TS3 would have been a multi-player online game, and this was just a lame attempt to pass it off as one while offering only limited and mostly useless interconnection.
I've never really gotten enjoyment out of World Adventures. The game was very flawed when it was originally released, and after encountering a number of errors while traveling or returning from trips, I haven't bothered with any of the features offered by this expansion since. I've downloaded patches and keep my game up-to-date, but the bad taste still lingers.
But I would totally suggest one of the other expansions (if you don't already have them) before I'd advise you to buy Ambitions or Showtime or World Adventures. Late Night, Supernatural, and Seasons are a lot of fun!

Thanks guys. I already have Late Night, Supernatural, and Seasons. So I decided to get Ambitions and Showtime since I couldn't decide between the two. Downloading Ambitions to my PC and ordered a physical disc for Ambitions. Should be here next week.
